We are in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and businesses in the UAE are holding tight and making changes to keep their staff healthy and ensure business continuity.

Times like these require sacrifices from all of us, to band together as a society to protect our most vulnerable and support each other. This means making short term adjustments so that we can get back to normal quickly. To help you with this, we have put together a short guide for navigating these times and supporting your team.

Remote working

One of the most effective ways to contain the spread of COVID-19 is to practice social distancing and self isolation, whether or not you have been travelling or think you may have been exposed to the virus. With many entities such as cinemas, gyms and bars temporarily closing in the UAE, we must do all we can to support them and get them back running soon.

Where possible, it is advisable to work remotely and restrict social gatherings. In general, there has been a surge in the popularity of remote work due to its many advantages. With the right schedule in place, it can be highly productive to spend some time working from home. That said, it is best to follow some guidelines and implement a routine so that you can be as efficient at home as you would be in the office.

LinkedIn Learning have released some complementary courses that can be leveraged to find out where to start if you are new to remote working, or if you need to work on your productivity. Check them out here.

Business continuity guidelines

This week the UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has launched guidelines for businesses on how to maintain operations in the event of a Covid-19 outbreak within their organisation. We recommend for all businesses to review these guidelines so that they can be best prepared in the event of a shut-down.

The Business Continuity Readiness Guidelines addresses issues such as preventive measures; response and handling of cases; remote work strategy; staff distribution; flexibility of procedures; monitoring and evaluation of suppliers and supply chain readiness. You can download the guidelines in full here

We suggest surveying your team to identify the level of risk within your business. Do you have staff members with pre-existing conditions? Or members that live with elderly family members? Uncovering this information will assist you in knowing how and when to take necessary action or precautions.

Wellness tips

It is common to feel anxious or overwhelmed during these days. Whether in the office or working remotely, it is important to manage stress levels and keep well so that you can be at your best. Eat well for immunity, get enough rest and try some home workouts, not only will this keep you fighting fit but from a mental wellness perspective is hugely important. You can find some top tips for keeping well during Coronavirus here

It is also important to be aware of the symptoms of COVID-19, and what you should do in the event that you should get sick. We have put together this list of FAQs which details insurance coverage, testing centres and more.

Stay well!
