How is gratuity calculated in the UAE?
According to UAE labor law, gratuity (end of service benefit) is calculated based on your length of service and basic salary:
- For the first 5 years of service: 21 days of basic salary per year
- After 5 years of service: 30 days of basic salary per year
- Maximum gratuity: 2 years of basic salary
Note: Gratuity is only applicable for employees who have completed at least one year of continuous service. Part-year service is calculated proportionally based on months and days worked.
